Roo shot with arrow on Vic-NSW border

A kangaroo has undergone surgery after being shot in the pouch with an arrow on the NSW-Victorian border.

The arrow trapped but did not injure the Eastern Grey kangaroo's joey before the pair were found on Ulupna Island on Tuesday, Victoria's environment department said.

"This is appalling behaviour and we are urging anyone with information to come forward," department spokesman Greg Chant said in a statement on Friday, adding the injured roo had undergone surgery.
