BST Hyde Park is known for its stellar line-ups with everyone from Elton John, to Billy Joel, Paul Simon, Massive Attack, Stevie Wonder and Taylor Swift, taking to the Westminster park's summer stage.

Now another legend will be joining this spectacular group: Robbie Williams has just been announced as the second BST 2024 headliner. The 49-year-old will be playing on July 6, performing the day after Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli. Williams last played at BST Hyde Park in 2019.

Earlier this week he had teased an upcoming London summer gig: "One night only – London, Summer 2024! Sign up for more info and early presale access," said Williams on Instagram. It's not yet known whether the BST performance is the aforementioned teased gig.

It's been a busy few weeks for Williams: last month Netflix released a revelatory four-part docuseries about the British singer-songwriter, in which he opened up about his life as one of the UK's biggest musical acts, and spoke openly about issues including substance abuse, relationships and Take That.

"The most revealing bits are the breakdown in mental health and the addictions and the agoraphobias and the body dysmorphias and the dyslexia and the dyscalculia," Williams said to PA about the series. "And all of these things that have been collected, like Scout badges, and I get it. Hopefully what I reveal will make me be more human in people’s eyes."

Williams has had a rollercoaster of a career: he was 16 years old when he joined Take That in 1990; just four years later he came close to a drug overdose. He went solo in 1996, and released his number one album, Life thru a Lens, the following year.

Over the next 26 years he released 11 studio albums and three compilation albums. He has won dozens of prestigious prizes including 18 Brit awards, including being honoured with both the Brit’s Outstanding Contribution to Music Award and the Icon Award. His records I’ve Been Expecting You (1998) and Swing When You’re Winning (2001) have sold millions of copies worldwide and are among the best-selling albums in the UK of all time. He has been touring with his 13th album, XXV, since its September 2022 release, and has recently played some shows in Australia.

British Summer Time festival, aka BST Hyde Park, is a summer programme of around 10 shows that are spread across several weekends.

BST puts on workshops, cinema screenings and family activities, but is best-known for welcoming some of the world's biggest musical acts: last year the festival, which launched back in 2013, saw Lana Del Ray, BLACKPINK and Bruce Springsteen perform.
