Rivne Oblast Council deputy chairman was exposed for accepting UAH 600,000 ($15,000) bribe to resolve a local businessman’s land and property issues, Ukraine’s SBU Security Service reported on Telegram on May 31.

The investigation, conducted together with the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO), revealed that in 2021, the businessman purchased a non-operational children's sanatorium, which was in municipal ownership through an electronic auction. The suspect offered to write off the property from the municipal balance sheet and ensure that the council would approve the sale of the sanatorium's 5.4-hectare plot of land to the businessman.
