A black Mercedes coupe believed to be linked to murdered Melbourne woman Karen Ristevski has been tested by detectives.

The 47-year old's body was found in February, and police continue their search for those responsible.

"As part of their ongoing investigation, detectives were out today in the Avondale Heights and Watergardens area and a test of a vehicle was conducted," Victoria Police spokesman Alistair Parsons said on Thursday.

He declined to comment further on the ongoing investigation.

A similar test was reportedly carried out on Monday, with the car spotted on the back of a tow truck outside an address at Avondale Heights.

Police in June released CCTV footage of the Mercedes being driven near Diggers Rest train station on the day of Ms Ristevski's disappearance.

Ms Ristevski was reported missing from her Avondale Heights home in June last year.
