"He's been waiting so long to be a big brother," 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta' star told PEOPLE at BravoCon 2023 about her 6-year-old
“It's a Christmas baby, so we're all getting this big gift,” Richards-Ross, 38, told PEOPLE at BravoCon in Las Vegas on Saturday.
She and football pro Aaron Ross’s 6-year-old son Aaron Jermaine Ross II, aka Duece, especially can't wait for the new babt, The couple announced in September that the baby will be a boy.
“Duece is over the moon,” Richards-Ross said. “I think he was waiting on me to get on board because he has been wanting to be a big brother for so long.”
The pregnancy comes after what Richards-Ross previously described to PEOPLE as “a really bad miscarriage.”
“It was tough,” the reality star said at BravoCon. “And I said to Duece when we were going through this, we told him it wasn't going to happen. I want him to be on the journey with us because life does not always go the way you planned. You're going to have ups and downs. I thought it was a good lesson for him to know that even though we were prayerful, we did all the right things, it didn't happen. As soon as it happened again, I told him.”

Now, less than two months from her due date, Richards-Ross said she feels “really good” about the pregnancy. “It's been a wonderful family experience,” she said.
The former Olympian also appreciates having her house back to herself after her parents, sister and sister’s family moved out.
“We are no longer a party of 10 or nine or whatever we were, it's just the three of us,” Richards-Ross said. “It's been great. I think all of us appreciate having our space back. My husband [is] walking around the house naked again. I'm not mad at that.”
During Friday’s Real Housewives of Atlanta panel, Richards-Ross said she didn’t “realize the strain that living with your family puts on you and your marriage.”
“There are three men in the house that do things differently and want to run their home a certain way,” she explained. “My husband didn’t really want to complain but when they moved out, I could see him [breathe a sigh of relief] and walking around naked and doing all the things.”
Her family hasn’t moved far, though. “They’re up the street, so we see them,” Richards-Ross continued.
Richards-Ross expressed Deuce’s excitement for baby No. 2 during the panel, too.
“This is Deuce's baby,” she said. “He’s more excited than either one of us. He’s counting down the days until the baby arrives and we’re working on the nursey and it’s exciting times.”
