Restaurant manager's 'crazy' move after woman leaves 'average' review

A woman’s seemingly simple Sunday night takeaway experience took an extreme turn after she left a three-star Yelp review.

Yesha Callahan had just ordered a burger fries and zeppoles, an Italian pastry, from La Porchetta in Virginia.

Not particularly satisfied with her “dry and unseasoned” burger, Ms Callahan jumped on Yelp to leave some constructive criticism – something the delivery man had politely asked her to do.

“Tried this place based on the reviews and the fact that they had zeppoles on the menu, which you don’t come by often. Ordered the cheese burger, which was very dry & unseasoned. Also did not come with lettuce or tomato,” her review read.

“The zeppoles barely had any powdered sugar on them & were soggy from the Styrofoam container. I would suggest sending them to people in small paper bags. Maybe next time I’ll try the pizza.”

But at 10pm that night, as she began drifting off to sleep, Ms Callahan heard a knock at her door before receiving a phone call from an unknown number.

Refusing to open the door, Ms Callahan listened to a voicemail that explained it was the manager from La Porchetta who was standing outside her door and wanted to discuss her three-star review.

She immediately called police before later returning to Yelp and adjusting her initial review.

“I originally gave this place a 3-star review. But now it’s being reduced to one star because the manager showed up at my house on a Sunday night at 10pm, because he obviously wasn’t pleased with the review and wanted to talk,” she added to her original Yelp review.

“Not only that, he repeatedly called my phone, to let me know he was standing outside my door. WTF! I do not answer my door late at night for anyone. How dare you show up at my house! What kind of business are you running? And yes, the police have been notified.”

The restaurant later responded explaining the customer had the wrong impression and the manager was simply there to offer a replacement burger and “personally apologise”.
