Residents in two suburbs urged to check bins after man's death

Residents of two Brisbane suburbs are being urged to check their bins for a number of items, including what is believed to be a Woolworths cooler bag, after a man was allegedly murdered.

The man, 45, was found dead at a residence in Wynnum, southeast of the CBD, on Wednesday about midday with significant head injuries, police said.

His death is now subject to a homicide investigation.

Police arrested a 24-year-old man on Sunday and charged him with murder. He will face Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

Residents of both Wynnum and Mount Gravatt are now being asked to “check their yards and rubbish bins and to contact police if they locate anything matching the items listed”.

Police believe the items may have been discarded after January 6, which include:

  • A pair of black running shoes with white soles and a white Nike logo on the side

  • A pair of earphones with a white cord

  • A green and white cooler bag, most likely Woolworths brand

  • A dark-coloured baseball cap

  • A pair of sunglasses with dark lenses and a light-coloured frame
