Republican National Convention Viewership Rises To Almost 18 Million On Night Of JD Vance’s First Speech As Trump’s VP Nominee

Viewership for the Republican National Convention rose slightly on its third night to 18 million, on the night that Sen. J.D. Vance gave his first speech as the vice presidential nominee, according to Nielsen.

The viewership compares to 17.3 million who watched the third night of the convention in 2020, when then-Vice President Mike Pence gave a speech at Fort McHenry in Baltimore, MD.

The viewership is across 12 networks, from 10 p.m. ET to 11:30 p.m. ET.

In 2016, when Pence accepted his first nomination as Trump’s running mate, viewership was 23.37 million.

An estimated 13.96 million viewers were 55 and over, 3.03 million were 35-54, and 658,000 were 18-34.

Fox News dominated viewership during the 10 p.m. ET to 11:30 p.m. ET time frame, drawing an estimated 6.88 million viewers, followed by NBC News with 2.7 million, ABC News with 1.94 million, CBS News with 1.58 million, CNN with 1.22 million and MSNBC with 1.03 million.

In the 25-54 demo, Fox News led with 1.2 million, followed by NBC News with 505,000, ABC News with 479,000, CNN with 363,000, CBS News with 332,000 and MSNBC with 141,000.
