Reporter's reaction after she was allegedly groped on-air during live cross

A female reporter has hit a male fan with a microphone after she was allegedly groped during a live television cross.

Fox Sports journalist Maria Fernanda Mora was doing a live report outside Guadalajara stadium following the local team’s win over Toronto last week.

Video of the cross shows Mora speaking to the camera with a number of fans.

A man stands behind her chanting as more fans join in the celebration. She turns her microphone to them as they sing before continuing her report.

As the fans continue to sing, Mora turns and hits one of them with her microphone.

The reporter alleges she was groped and in a statement on Twitter said what happened to her during her cross “happens to thousands of women every day in countless public spaces”.

“The difference is that it happened to me during a live link television and I decided to defend myself,” Mora said.

My reaction is what turned the fact into something viral.”

But she alleges “this guy, emboldened” because she did not react and proceeded to put his hand between her buttocks “twice more”.

“I decided to defend myself,” she said.

Mora said she does not regret her reaction and added she previously suffered harassment in her career as a journalist.

The journalist has been praised for her actions on Twitter with many outraged she was subject to harassment while trying to do her job.

“I am outraged,” one user tweeted.

“It’s a shame that women still have a hard time covering sports.”

Another Twitter used said the fan’s alleged actions are “unacceptable” while another commended Mora for having the courage to defend herself.
