Allen Robinson's agent: No trade request, but WR unhappy with contract
Allen Robinson made waves when he removed mentions of the Chicago Bears from his social media accounts in the last 24 hours.
Now the wide receiver reportedly wants out. The Chicago Tribune reported on Tuesday that Robinson asked the team about a trade as the two sides appear to remain far apart on a contract extension.
The 27-year-old is in the final season a a three-year, $42 million deal and was not able to reach terms with the Bears on an extension before the start of the season. Robinson led the Bears with 98 receptions for 1,147 yards and seven touchdowns last season and was easily the team’s most potent weapon on an otherwise stagnant offense.
Robinson’s agent responds
Robinson’s agent denied the report to ESPN’s Adam Schefter but acknowledged that Robinson is not happy with his contract situation.
Brandon Parker, agent for Bears’ WR Allen Robinson, said he and his client have not requested a trade. However Robinson, who is in the last year of his contract, is unhappy that Chicago has been unwilling to pay him market value for wide receivers.

Bears have stated desire to get deal done
General manager Ryan Pace alluded to the two sides continuing to work toward a deal last week despite the impending start of the season.
“We know how important A-Rob is to us not just as a player but as a teammate,” Pace said on Sept. 7, per the Tribune. “But those things are going to remain behind the scene as we work through the process.”
Robinson’s teammates back him up
Bears running back Tarik Cohen called for the team to make a deal Tuesday morning. Rookie wide receiver Darnell Mooney retweeted the sentiment.

WR market has jumped
Robinson has played at a high level when healthy throughout his career despite catching passes from Mitchell Trubisky and Blake Bortles as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars. His current deal pays him well below value for a receiver of his caliber as the market has spiked with big deals for top-tier receivers.
Amari Cooper signed a five-year, $100 million deal with the Dallas Cowboys in March. DeAndre Hopkins signed a two-year, $54.5 million extension with the Arizona Cardinals last week that extended his previous contract to a total of $94 million over five years.
