Reese Witherspoon Sends a Strong Political Message to Her Fans
With less than one week remaining until Election Day, Reese Witherspoon joined the wave of celebrities weighing in on the U.S. presidential election by sending a strong political message to her fans.
As the Legally Blonde star revealed in her Friday, Nov. 1, post on Instagram, she cast her ballot early instead of waiting to go to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 5. “I voted today. ✅,” she wrote as she shared a photo of herself standing outside a light blue building while wearing a white sweater T-shirt, on which she placed an “I voted” sticker. She smiled as she looked directly into the camera for the snapshot, beside which she explained why she picked her candidate of choice for the 2024 presidential election.

“Top of my mind, as I considered all candidates, is protecting women’s rights to medical privacy and reproductive choice,” The Morning Show actress wrote. “This is a critical time in our shared history to vote for the candidate that represents the future we want to see.”
With that in mind, the 48-year-old mother of three revealed that she cast her ballot for Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee. Harris, 60, is running with vice presidential candidate and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz against former President Donald Trump, who is this year’s Republican presidential nominee. Trump is sharing the Republican ticket with Ohio Sen. JD Vance.
Witherspoon continued her Instagram caption by explaining that she voted for Harris for “my daughter and for the millions of hard-working American women who value our freedoms.”
The Big Little Lies actress added that she wants “to protect democracy at all costs.”
“I love my country and no matter what happens in this election, I’m here to move our great nation forward in a unified way. 🇺🇸,” her post concluded.
