Reckless driver narrowly avoids head-on crash
Hair-raising footage has emerged of a reckless driver coming within centimetres of death on Victorian roads as they try to create a third lane of traffic.
The video, recorded on a dash cam, is taken from a vehicle that is following a ute.
The ute is towing another car through a single-lane road in the town of Mernda, 30km north-east of Melbourne’s CBD.
An impatient driver behind the wheel of a silver Holden Commodore suddenly decides to overtake all three vehicles without looking ahead at oncoming traffic.
With a black ute fast approaching in the opposite direction, the Commodore squeezes in as close as possible to the towed car.
The oncoming ute veers to the side just in time, leaving mere centimetres between each car.
The heart-stopping video was posted onto the Dam Cam Owners Facebook page and has been viewed over 37,000 times.
One outraged Facebook user wrote:
"The unwrapping Xmas present is lots of fun (sic). Unwrapping people from car crashes is not."
The negligent driver has been reported to Crime Stoppers.
