Real Madrid XI vs Real Sociedad: Confirmed early team news, predicted lineup and latest injuries today

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane is without a number of players as Los Blancos kick off the defence of their LaLiga title away to Real Sociedad this evening.

Eden Hazard, Lucas Vasquez, Marco Asensio, Isco and Mariano are all out injured for the trip to San Sebastian, while Eder Militao and Luka Jovic are both doubtful.

With Gareth Bale also sidelined and now on loan at Tottenham for the 2020-21 season, Zidane looks likely to start Brazilian forwards Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior alongside last season’s top scorer Karim Benzema.

The French coach is set to keep faith with Luka Modric in midfield after the 35-year-old impressed post-lockdown for Los Blancos, with Martin Odegaard is expected to be on the bench against the team he played for last season on loan.

Zidane also seems likely to select Marcelo at left-back ahead of Ferland Mendy for the visit to Anoeta, where Madrid won 2-1 in June.

Madrid kick off in the second week of LaLiga due to their participation in the Champions League last 16 against Manchester City in August.
