Protecting your eyes is essential; looking good while you're doing it is an added bonus. This season there are some great options for sunnies. Here are our top picks:
Ray-Ban
Ray-Ban is a great option for sunglasses that are cool, wearable and look great. Their price tags hover around the $200 mark, and you're guaranteed quality sunglasses that will last.
Ray-Ban's State Street model is part of the Wayfarer family; think bold angles and plenty of attitude. It has an elegant, squared shape, and is made from acetate. They're a lens category 3, which offers high protection against sunglare. They come in a range of colours, with either classic, gradient or polar lenses. We love the pink tortoiseshell frames with a brown/blue gradient lens, $229.
The Powderhorn model has a double bridge across the nose and a sharp upper rim line. They have a sporty feel but are still cool; particularly with the light-responsive coloured lenses which come in a range of colours, including orange and grey. They are a lens category 2, which provides good protection against sunglare. The light brown frames, with dark grey and gold photochromic mirror lenses, $245, will have you looking super slick.
Go for a seventies vibe with the Ray-Ban Nomad range. They have bold frames, wide arms, and scream 'no nonsense.' Chanel
If you're ready to splash some cash, then Chanel sunnies are the way to go. Pricey, but pretty perfect, they're the ultimate way to finish off an outfit. They're all a lens category 3, which offers high protection against sunglare.
Chanel's rectangle sunglasses, $680, are exactly that - rectangular with a soft curve to the edges. They have a slightly translucent frame, Chanel branding on the arms and are available in three colours; brown, grey, and a black/grey pair with polarised lenses. They're super chic without being over the top.
These round sunglasses, $990, by Chanel, are actually almost hexagonal, but the slight curve on each of the edges gives a rounder appearance. They are embellished with a chain link around the top and on the arms, and have a dark tortoiseshell or black frame. They scream fabulous.
Go all out in these perfectly round shades from Chanel. At $1320 they're not cheap, but they're a serious statement. With delicate chain mail all the way round the edge, and across the bridge of the nose, they're perfect for city strolling, and being seen in.
Quay
If you're on a budget, Quay's sunnies are bang on-trend without a massive price tag. They're all a lens category 3, which offers high protection against sunglare.
The Jezabell Inlay, $75, has a slim frame and fits a medium sized face - but has a cool oversized look. It has adjustable nose pads for people with higher cheekbones, and comes in a choice of black-out or reflective lenses. There are four frame options including oatmeal, black and titanium, but our pick is the pink with the brown lenses.
The best selling Nightfall frame, $75, bring serious celebrity vibes. They're super easy to wear and although the frames are big, they don't appear too large on your face. They have a sleek one-piece lens, and an option of a polarised lens. They are available in six colourways, including a blue-lens option, but a black frame with a smoky black lens is the pair they sell out of the most.
If you're petite and often get dwarfed by frames, the High Key Mini, $75, is for you. They have an aviator shape, with flat lenses, but are scaled down so they don't swamp small features. They're available in 13 different frame and lens colour combinations, including this chic gold frame with brown lenses.
Prada
Prada sunglasses make a serious statement. If you want to be noticed, don't go past these.
This contemporary geometric design, $472, is oversized, ensuring you'll stand out from the crowd. They have dark grey gradient lenses, black frames, and silver branding on the sides. They're a lens category 2 which means they give good protection against sunglare.
These teardrop shaped Prada frames, $472, are in sleek black, with a white back, and silver toned arms. They have grey gradient lenses and offer UPF (ultra violet) sun protection. Super cool statement specs to get you noticed.
