Kmart’s ambitious foray into the mattress industry appears to be paying off, with ecstatic shoppers dubbing the retailer’s $150 sleepers their ‘best ever’.

The store announced the product for their online-only range earlier this month, sparking excitement, but also reservation amongst shoppers.

Available in NSW, Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia, the first reviews are in and it looks like the reservations were for nothing as word on the street is the mattresses are a dream.

Many homemakers took to social media with rave reviews, even arguing the items, which range from $150 for a single to $190 for a queen, beat their expensive mattresses.

One mum who unpacked a single for an online review is even swapping out her existing mattress for a queen one from Kmart.

“Can I just say oh my wow. It is so comfy,” she wrote.

“It is better than my mattress and I’m going to order a queen ASAP.”

Others echoed her sentiments.

“I’m considering switching it into our own room to replace our $2000 mattress,” a mum wrote.

“They are the most comfortable mattresses in my house,” another agreed.

“A friend also said that this was more comfortable than any expensive bed they have owned,” was yet another rave review.

A gamechanger for the mattress industry

The consensus comes after there was some initial hesitation over what seemed to be an impossibly cheap offering in a notoriously costly market.

A truly workable budget mattress would be a gamechanger for households everywhere, with the average budget option currently setting shoppers back between $750 and $1000.

Kmart’s foray into the market is part of an exclusive online catalogue only available for delivery.

The range includes single, double and queen mattresses at $149, $169 and $189 respectively, and it looks like they are worth every cent.

“Absolute score, best mattresses I've ever owned,” was just another glowing review.

Still available online, the mattress could well be a sell-out with similar cult buys flying off shelves once the words get out.

Safe to say it’s a run don’t walk situation.
