Rapper Busta Rhymes busted in Brooklyn assault, NYPD says
NEW YORK — Rapper Busta Rhymes was arrested after he pummeled a man during an argument in Brooklyn, police said Thursday.
The Brooklyn-bred artist, whose real name is Trevor George Smith Jr., got into an argument with his 50-year-old assistant near the corner of Jay St. and Front St. in Downtown Brooklyn around 10:15 a.m. Jan. 10, according to police sources.
As the two men argued Rhymes, 52, repeatedly punched the man in the face numerous times, they added.
Medics took the assistant to Woodhull Hospital to be treated for swelling to the left side of his face.
The “Break Ya Neck” rapper was charged with assault.
A request for comment from Busta Rhymes’ manager was not immediately returned.
