Queensland woman 'mauled to death by pack of dogs'

A woman has died in Queensland after being attacked by three dogs, police said.

Police were called to Milton Street in Maryborough, north of the Sunshine Coast, just after 9am on Tuesday following reports a woman was being mauled by a pack of dogs in the yard of a home.

Police believe the dogs belong to someone else and the woman had been taking care of them.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, the unidentified woman, reported by Nine News as being in her 30s or 40s, died at the scene.

She suffered serious injuries to her head, chest, and one arm, according to the publication.

The dogs, believed to be cross breeds, were corralled into a shed and have since been removed by the local council.

Speaking to reporters at the scene, Acting Inspector Wade Lee said it was a "tragic accident".

"The dogs were in an enclosed yard," he said.

"At this stage it is just a very tragic accident."

A coroner report will be prepared.
