Queensland police abandon forensic investigation after realising body is a sex doll

A mysterious figure found wrapped in a blanket on a highway in North Queensland sparked a short-lived police investigation on Friday morning.

Police were called to the scene on the Bruce Highway south of Bowen at around 7am this morning, after a ‘body’ was located.

A statement released by authorities this morning said police had established a crime scene and detective and forensic investigators were commencing their investigation.

However in a decidedly strange turn of events, it was announced later in the afternoon the investigation had concluded and the crime scene disbanded.

“Forensic officers commenced investigations which have concluded the body is a life-like replica doll of a human,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

“Officers will continue investigations into the origins of the doll.”

“It was a sex doll wrapped in a blanket and dumped,” a source told The Courier Mail.

The unnamed source also divulged that either animal brains or blood were around the sex doll, which was found next to two pieces of women’s lingerie, some male underwear, a sock and a user manual.

According to the source, the doll’s name is Naomi, as per the user manual.

Queensland Police could not confirm these details to Yahoo News Australia.

On Queensland Police’s Facebook page, many speculated leaving the doll on the side of the road was some sort of prank.

“As if QPS haven’t already got enough to do NOW they have to deal with pranksters,” one person said.

While one person suggested it was a Bucks or Hens party “gone wrong”.
