'Loved by many': Young mum of three, 36, killed in 'horrific' three-car tragedy

A young mother of three was killed in a “horrific car accident” involving three vehicles.

Queensland Police said initial investigations indicated a ute travelling down Serpentine Creek Road at Redland Bay struck a sedan travelling in the same direction on Friday night.

This caused the ute to veer into oncoming traffic and strike a minivan.

The only person in the minivan was 36-year-old mother of three, Mersina Axiom, who died at the scene.

“It is with deep sadness that I share the passing of my beautiful, strong, passionate sister after a horrific car accident took her life,” a Go Fund Me set up by Ms Axiom’s sister reads.

“Mersina was a loving mother, a daughter, a sister, an aunty, wife and to so many people she meant the world.

”Mersina was loved by many and she always did what she could to help those less fortunate than herself.”

Ms Axiom is survived by three children and a husband. The money raised will be used for the funeral and cost of living.

The GoFundMe has raised almost $7,500 at time of writing and the page has been inundated with support from those who knew Ms Axiom and mourners.

“She had the most beautiful and loving heart, we were blessed to have known her. We are thinking of you and her family. You are all in our prayers,” one person wrote.

“A truly beautiful person taken too soon. Her kind heart has touched the hearts of so many,” another said.

Ms Axiom’s sister expressed her appreciation for the support the family received following the tragic news.

“As I’m sure you all understand my whole family is going through the motions and we all sincerely appreciate your messages of hope, love and support,” she said.

Queensland Police said the occupants in the other vehicles sustained “non-life threatening injuries” and said the Forensic Crash Unit was investigating.

Anyone who was travelling in the area at the time of the crash or who has dashboard camera footage is urged by police to come forward.
