The royal family has suffered yet another fracture after 12 months fraught with splits and spills, and this time it’s a marriage of over 25 years that has crumbled.

The Queen’s nephew and son of the late Princess Margaret the Earl of Snowdon announced his split from wife Serena on Monday, marking it the second royal divorce to be made public in seven days.

Just one week ago royal fans were left shocked at the news of Peter Phillips’ split from wife of 12 years Autumn Phillips.

The Earl, David Armstrong-Jones, and wife Serena made the announcement on Monday, telling The Sun the split is ‘amicable’.

“The Earl and Countess of Snowdon have amicably agreed that their marriage has come to an end and that they shall be divorced,” a statement released to the paper read.

“They ask that the press respect their privacy and that of their family.”

Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones is 17-years-old, born on 14th May 2002, while Charles Armstrong-Jones, who uses the title Viscount Linley, is 20-years-old.

They’re regularly seen with their parents at royal functions, but the family largely keep out of the limelight.

Second divorce to rock the royals

Last week it was announced that the Queen’s grandson, Peter Phillips, will reportedly set to separate from his wife of 12 years, Autumn Phillips.

Autumn and Peter Phillips attend the wedding of Prince Harry to Ms Meghan Markle at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle on May 19, 2018 in Windsor, England. Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales marries Ms. Meghan Markle in a service at St George's Chapel inside the grounds of Windsor Castle. Among the guests were 2200 members of the public, the royal family and Ms. Markle's Mother Doria Ragland.

Princess Anne’s son, Peter, and Canadian native Autumn, who married in 2008, are parents to nine-year-old Savannah and seven-year-old Isla.

According to The Sun, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent break from the royal family and move to Canada is thought to have triggered the separation.
