- Did you know Queen Elizabeth's funeral procession will last 10 days? The procession started in Scotland where she died, and next, heads to London on Tuesday, where she'll stay up until her funeral on Monday, September 19. That's when she'll be buried at Windsor Castle alongside her parents and husband Prince Philip.
The date of her funeral has already been declared a national bank holiday. The whole thing has been carefully organized, including the custom-built black hearse that's carrying the queen's coffin and the wreath that features her favorite flowers, including sweet peas picked from Balmoral Castle. The ceremony is a huge deal since it's only the 10th state funeral in the UK in the last century. The last one was held for Winston Churchill in 1965.
