Quavo Announces ‘Spark Grants’ Program to Award $100,000 to Organizations in Effort to Minimize Gun Violence in Atlanta

In partnership with his Rocket Foundation, Quavo has announced the “SPARK Grants” program, intended to support organizations working to minimize community violence in his native Atlanta and beyond.

The rapper, who laid the bricks for his career as one-third of Migos, founded the Rocket Foundation in 2022 to honor his group member and nephew Takeoff, who was shot and killed in 2022. The organization sought to end gun violence in America in the fallout from Takeoff’s death, and started its work in Atlanta as a jumping-off point to further gun control in the country at large.

The “Sparks Grants” will award $10,000 to 10 Atlanta-focused organizations to assist communities and promote the foundation’s message, totaling $100,000 in grants. The announcement comes after Quavo met Vice President Kamala Harris through his and his family’s involvement in the Congressional Black Caucus last September in Washington, D.C. The following day, the White House launched the Office of Gun Violence Prevention, widening the Rocket Foundation’s mission statement on gun control.

“I am honored to launch this grant program to honor Take and the countless families that have been affected by gun violence,” said Quavo. “The Rocket Foundation will be giving out $100K in SPARK grants to local orgs dedicated to reducing community violence in Atlanta. There is a lot of important work going on in ATL right now, and part of our mission is to uplift these organizations and support them to help save more lives.“

Organizations can apply for grants beginning on March 20, with applications due on April 21. Grant winners will be announced on June 18 to coincide with Takeoff’s birthday, and during National Gun Violence Awareness Month, which occurs during the month.
