Group of Irish 'scammers' now accused of trashing apartments
An Irish family accused of scamming and ripping off Brisbane businesses is also suspected of trashing four apartments on the city's south side.
The brand-new, fully furnished apartments were vandalised and flooded.
The tenants fled in the middle of the night after failing to pay rent, leaving holes and a toilet clogged with - of all things - potatoes.
"There was writing on the wall, the damage was just immense," property owner Clara Carmichael said.
"They also terrorised the other tenants in the building. People were scared to come in and out."
Four apartments in Mount Gravatt and Moorooka were leased to several Irish families at the end of last year.
The owners claim these mums were among them.
The rowdy bunch are wanted by police over a string of thefts and frauds.
"We knew who they were straight away," Ms Carmichael said.
"I wasn't surprised to see they were doing things to other people and businesses in the community because they really had no remorse for our business.
They even sent aggressive text messages: "You people do not know how to run a business," one read.
"You stupid Australian pieces of s**t."

Another Brisbane property manager has also contacted 7 News with similar claims of the group trashing rental properties.
The victim did not want to be identified, fearing retribution.
The women are also accused of scamming Brisbane restaurant owners by planting glass in their meals.
A Burleigh restaurant owner says a group of men, with similar Irish accents, did the same thing on Tuesday, giving police another possible link to investigate.
