Just after 2.30pm on Wednesday, two officers entered the the single level brick and tile home after reports of a domestic dispute between a father and his son in Springfield.
Police will allege a 16-year-old boy lunged at two officers with a knife and was shot in the upper right hand side of his body.
The officers worked to revive the teen on the driveway before paramedics arrived.
Paramedics say the injured male was taken to the Princess Alexandria Hospital in a serious but stable condition with a gunshot wound to his upper body.

In aerial footage a police officer could be seen watching on as his colleagues examined equipment including a glock pistol and two magazines.
