A man described as a "one man crime wave" has faced a Brisbane court accused of punching a Queensland police officer on Christmas Eve.
Ashley Wayne Dodd had two black eyes when he appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with over a dozen offences.
The 39-year-old allegedly punched an officer in the head and body several times after the stolen car he was riding in was pulled over in the Glass House Mountains.
After the alleged assault, Dodd told the car's driver and a nine-year-old passenger to leave the vehicle, which he then drove off in alone.
He was caught at a Morningside home in Brisbane on Tuesday and charged with multiple offences including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, burglary and serious assault on police.
Detective Senior Sergeant Darren Edwards said it was fortunate for the community that Dodd was apprehended.
"Basically, he is a crime wave on his own," he told ABC Radio on Wednesday.
Dodd did not apply for bail and will reappear in the same court on January 24.
