A Queensland man who punched a police officer after being pulled over with no registration plates in a stolen car has been charged.
When the police officer approached the car, the man, who was a passenger, punched the officer in the head and body a number of times around 5pm on Christmas Eve in the Glass House Mountains.
As a struggle ensued, the offender told the car's driver and a nine-year-old passenger to leave the car.
When they got out he swapped to the driver's seat and fled, leaving them behind.
He was caught at a Morningside home in Brisbane on Tuesday.
The 39-year-old has been charged with four counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and two counts each of burglary and serious assault police and will appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
