Brawl breaks out at Gold Coast football grand final

A brawl broke out in the stands of at a Gold Coast football club late on Sunday afternoon.

The rumble was seemingly started by a player and spilled over into the crowd of fans on the sideline.

Exclusive pictures obtained by 7 News show supporters from the rival football teams violently pushing and punching one another.

Some punters even had their clothes ripped in the melee.

Six police crews rushed to the ground to break up the brawl that erupted at the A Grade grand final between Runaway Bay and Burleigh Bears.

What started the fight but that is subject of an investigation by police and league officials.

After tensions calmed down a number of police remained on the scene questioning witnesses.
