Grandfather's dream Chrysler stolen in brutal carjacking
A grandfather who saved for decades to buy his dream car had it stolen during a violent carjacking in Queensland.
Darryal Harrison, 65, of Kingston, was thrown to the ground before the thief took the customised Chrysler for a marathon joyride.
Mr Harrison, who bought the car to celebrate his retirement, drove it into the carpark of his local shopping centre before a stranger asked him the time and started a conversation.
"Before I knew it, he ripped the keys out of my hand, and pushed me over and jumped in the car and took off," Mr Harrison said.
After 41 years as a concrete finisher, Mr Harrison bought his "dream car", a custom-fitted Chrysler, only three weeks ago.
"Something I'd been saving up to get for years," an emotional Mr Harrison said.
"I just really don't understand people."
Throughout the day there were several sightings of the distinctive car across Logan and in South Brisbane.
A member of the public spotted and photographed it at Loganlea.
Late on Wednesday afternoon the car was found abandoned in Kingston.
It came back in one piece - with just a few scratches.
