Gold Coast girl taken from daycare centre found 'safe and well'

A young girl who was taken by a man from a Gold Coast daycare has been found safe and well on the mid-North Coast of NSW.

On Monday evening Queensland Police issued an Amber alert and said the five-year-old may be at "significant risk" after she was taken by a man known to her from the Carrara daycare centre at 4pm.

Early on Tuesday police said she had been found "safe and well with the man" near Kempsey.

A man was seen taking the girl from the daycare facility on Birmingham Road and putting her into a sedan before driving off.

The man and girl were known to each other and were sighted leaving a service station at Brunswick Heads at 6.20pm.
