Mum reveals horrific note from neighbour threatening to 'poison' family dog

A Sunshine Coast mum has shared a letter which was dropped into her letterbox threatening to throw "poisoned meat" into her yard over her dog's barking.

Kirra-lee Laverty, of Buderim, posted her response to the annonymous note which said there were "some pretty angry people in the neighbourhood regarding your dog" on the Sunny Coast Community Board Facebook page.

"Would you kindly keep your dog inside the house as it constantly barks all day and night and we have kids that need sleep for early morning training and school," the note said.

The note said the writer had spoken to the neighbours and there was agreement among them. It then continued in a more sinister tone.

"I'd advise you to take action before poisoned meat is thrown into the yard," the note said.

"You need to have some respect for other people and maybe reconsider whether you are fit to be a dog owner!"

With no other way to contact the author, Ms Laverty responded to the note on the Fecebook page saying she apologised for any incovenience her 14-week-old puppy may have caused.

"He is just a puppy and still learning the ropes! I can guarantee you that while I am home I pull him up the minute he barks!" she wrote.

"He is normally not home by himself but as my partner has gone away for work for a few weeks he has been left home with myself who has to work 2 days a week and can't take him to work with me unfortunately!"

She went on to say that neither her, an "exremely light sleeper" nor her two young children are ever woken up by the dog and suggested that maybe the writer of the note had the wrong house.

Ms Laverty than pleaded with the author of the note not to act on his threats.

"Please be smart about the action you take in regards to throwing poisoned meat in my yard because you aren't only threatening my dog you are also threatening my kids life's as they play in the back yard and my 8 month old puts everything he finds in his mouth!"

The anonymous letter writer has copped widespread criticism on the page, condemned as "gutless", an "anonymous coward", with many suers calling for Ms Laverty to report the incident to police.

Ms Laverty said she has purchased a training collar, enrolled the dog in puppy school, and has filed a complaint with the RSPCA and police, the Sunshine Coast Daily reported.
