Mum shocked by Valentine's Day love note

A Brisbane single mum is calling on Aussie men to make more romantic gestures after a mystery admirer left her an unexpected Valentine's Day love note.

Hairdresser Aleasha Bliss said she "nearly fell over" upon returning to her car after grabbing a coffee from a servo, to find the handwritten message pinned to her windscreen, from a stranger.

"[I felt] total shock when I saw a folded up piece of paper under my wiper," the 32-year-old wrote on her blog.

"First thought before opening it - great, I’ve cut someone off on highway and they thought they’d leave me an aggressive message to tell me off," she shared.

But it was the opposite of an angry note. Ms Bliss said the words "Hi Just had to say wow you are breathtaking!!" made her week, signed off by a man known only as Josh, who also left his phone number.

Calling the gesture "so old school" the blonde beauty said the handwritten paper note was "so gutsy and romantic".

"Who does this?... He had no idea if I was single, married, gay etc, yet did it anyway," she wrote, and called for other men to take a leaf from her mystery man's notebook.

Ms Bliss said women don't always need flowers and expensive gifts - it was "the little things" that mattered most, like taking a few moments of their day to be thoughtful by helping around the house, or cooking dinner.

She called on men to "be like Josh" and urged them to write letters to their loves.

"Beautiful and handwritten notes will be kept and cherished, not deleted or lost in a web of emails and texts," she wrote.

The single mum, who has a 12-year-old daughter, told Facebook friends on Tuesday she had sent a few texts to Josh and "he seems lovely" but was not sure if she was going to meet him.
