'Long road to recovery' for injured Cirque du Soleil acrobat

The Queensland trapeze artist, who was injured in a horror Cirque du Soleil fall, is facing a long road to recovery.

Lisa Skinner slipped and fell five metres from a suspended ring during Brisbane’s KOOZA show on Sunday.

The 35-year-old was performing an aerial hoop solo act when she fell face first onto the ground, as hundreds of audience members watched on in horror.

The former Olympic gymnast suffered a fracture to her neck and a broken arm in the fall.

Ms Skinner’s mother says the 35-year-old will now be fitted with a halo brace to keep her body from moving as her recovery begins.
