Three arrested over mass-overdose - but cops rule out 'zombie' drug

Three people have been arrested over last weekend's mass overdose on the Gold Coast that hospitalised 16 people with one man still in a coma.

Fresh toxicology reports show revellers took a dangerous mix of MDMA and synthetic LSD.

It was not the drug 'flakka' as initially reported.

Victorian footballer Riki Stephens, 27, remains in a coma in a Gold Coast hospital.

It's understood his condition is deteriorating.

Gold Coast police superintendent Michelle Stenner said when "persons consume a cocktail of these substances, they can have very dire consequences".

Police added more arrests were imminent.
