Man 'on ice' allegedly stabbed his mother, strangled stepfather in Queensland home

Police believe a man who allegedly stabbed his mother as she tried to stop him strangling his stepfather inside the family's Queensland home was high on ice at the time of the attack.

The 21-year-old man allegedly stabbed his 44-year-old mum in the arm while he was armed with a kitchen knife during the domestic attack on Thursday.

Police say the man strangled his stepfather and pregnant girlfriend before the mother intervened at the Redbank Plains home.

The man, who is unlicenced and disqualified from driving, then fled the scene in a white sedan.

Plain-clothed police officers intercepted the man's vehicle around 12pm on Thursday and, fearing the man was still armed with the knife, drew their weapons in a dramatic arrest.

The man was pulled from the vehicle in only his underwear.
