Seven die in horror 24 hours on Australian roads

A horror 24 hours on Australian roads has seen seven people killed in accidents across the nation.

Five people, including three motorcycle riders, have died in separate crashes on Victoria's roads in less than 24 hours along with an additional two motorists from Queensland also being fatally injured.

The death of a man riding a motorcycle in Keilor East in Victoria before midnight on Friday brings the state's annual road toll to 204.

The rider, who is yet to be formally identified, came off his bike while turning off the Calder Freeway near Keilor Park Drive and died at the scene.

His death came hours after a 26-year-old man on a motorcyclist attempted to overtake a truck in Oakleigh.

The rider was killed when the vehicles collided at a section where Warrigal Road in Oakleigh merged into one lane.

The 61-year-old truck driver was uninjured.

Earlier on Friday, a 22-year-old Swan Hill woman died when her car lost control on a bend, went down a grass slope and crashed into a tree on Pental Island.

She was the only person in the car.

A woman also killed in a head-on crash with another car in Narre Warren North on Friday afternoon.

A 43-year-old Narre Warren man has been arrested over that crash and is being interviewed by police.

Another male motorcycle rider died in a crash with a car in Coolaroo intersection just before midday on Friday.

Victoria's road toll for the same time last year was 171.

Meanwhile a man has died after his car rolled several times before bursting into flames in the Queensland town of Yarwun.

The 34-year-old was driving along Calliope River Road late on Friday night when his car left the road and burst into flames.

He died at the scene.

Earlier, a young Brisbane woman died following a week-long battle in hospital from injuries sustained in a serious car crash in Brisbane.

The 22-year-old was driving along Compton Road in Underwood late on Monday night when she crashed into a car, suffering the fatal injuries.
