Queensland police officer accused of raping woman he met on a dating site

A police officer accused of raping a woman he met on a dating site has been granted bail in a Queensland court.

The 23-year-old constable was charged with rape and assault after a woman came forward over the weekend alleging the crime.

It is alleged he choked and sexually assaulted her after meeting on the website Plenty of Fish.

The officer from the Northern Police Region was arrested on Sunday after an investigation by Queensland Police’s Ethical Standard’s Committee.

The man has been charged with two counts of rape and count of assault.

He appeared in the Brisbane Magistrate's Court today where he received bail. The court heard the alleged crime occurred after the woman met the officer on a dating website.

The arrest came after a woman reported the alleged incidents to police on Saturday.

The Queensland Police Service said in a statement the officer had been suspended from official duties.
