Promising turn in a Gold Coast man's search for mystery brunette

A Queensland man's unusual quest for love at a Gold Coast Woolies has taken a promising turn.

A friend of the "mystery brunette" has met with the not-so-secret admirer, Brok Neilsen, to make sure he "isn't a creep".

The Facebook page for the now viral social media campaign "Hope for Brok", a campaign seemingly all in the name of love, shared the encouraging news last night.

The post stated:"UPDATE: Mystery brunettes friend came to meet us to make sure Brok isn't a creep and it's a match! Who knows what will happen next with this mysterious brunette! ‪#‎HopeForBrok‬"

According to the Daily Mail the friend had a photo of the mystery woman in the same spot as the original photo which was shared online. It was reportedly meant to be proof that it was in fact the actual girl he was looking for.

The search started on Monday night at the Q Super Centre at Mermaid Waters after Brok spotted the brunette shopping for mushrooms.

Apparently Brok never approached the girl who took his breath away, but took a photo.

"I saw her for a second. She walked past me. She had a great smile," Mr Neilsen told 7 News.

"I was sort of kicking myself afterwards," he said.

Brok's friend, Blake Nicholls tried to help his friend after the missed opportunity to talk to the mystery mushroom girl, reaching out to Woolworths via their Facebook page.

"I was at Woolworths this evening at 7:38pm (AEST) with my friend Brok buying fresh produce to make butter chicken when he's glanced over at the girl of his dreams," Brok's friend Blake Nicholls wrote on the Woolies wall on Monday night, with the woman's image attached.

"For years, you've brought people together with your sensational service, fantastic products with a catchy theme song that's kept me coming back, so now do what you do best and bring these two together," his post continued.

Blake included, "(Girl buying mushrooms if you read this, we will be in this section every night at 7:38pm until we meet again) followed by the hastag #hopeforbrok".

The supermarket was not chick-en to send a cheeky reply to Blake's post.

"Hey Blake, whilst we're more interested in matching your dear friend Brok with the perfect chick-en and bay leaf to create the curry of his dreams, we still think you're a great wing-man!"

"Next time tell Brok not to be chicken, just rice up and say hello! We hear love grows in the produce department. #HopeForBrok"

The moral debate over the campaign has continued again today with some members of the public still thinking the quest is "creepy".

Speculation has also continued as to whether or not the whole thing is a marketing campaign rather than a genuine attempt to find a soulmate.

But Brok told 7 News yesterday his intentions are genuine.

If Brok and Blake are true to their word they will wait for the mystery girl again tonight in the fresh produce section.
