Residents in fear after Gold Coast 'love triangle' shooting follows home invasion
Residents of a Gold Coast unit block are on edge after a home invasion this month sparked a shooting in a possible love triangle involving a former Big Brother contestant.
Police are hunting 23-year-old Anthony Soong who allegedly shot one-time Big Brother housemate Sam Wallace in a restaurant car park while he sat in a car with another man.
The attempted murder is thought to have followed a home invasion on December 6 in which an armed Mr Soong entered the Broadbeach unit where his former partner was staying while there were several women inside, Fairfax reports.
One unnamed witness said a number of people watched the forced entry unfold.
"He burst into the room and I heard the girls screaming, screaming, screaming," the witness said.
"It was absolutely horrible."
It is thought Mr Soong and his former partner, 19-year-old aspiring model Jhai Saric, then drove to a nearby Mike's Kitchen restaurant in Merrimac where they met Mr Wallace and another man as they were in a car.
Mr Soong then allegedly fired several shots at Mr Wallace's car before he drove away.
One bullet and some shrapnel hit Mr Wallace who works as personal trainer. He was hospitalised and has put his work on hold while he recovers.
Police have issued a warrant for Mr Soong's arrest, seeking to charge him with attempted murder and various other charges.
Ms Saric was arrested at the scene and released without charge but police have not copped to the love triangle hypothesis, suggesting the passenger in Mr Wallace's car was also a target.
"It's certainly our position that he fired at both of those blokes," Senior Sergeant Corby told Fairfax.
Ms Saric was staying the unit as guest of the tenant, but the landlord has issued an eviction notice.
However, she continues to stay there and one witness said Mr Soong has returned there three times since the invasion.
