Queensland house fire claims second life

A 30-year-old woman has died two days after suffering burns to 90 per cent of her body in a house fire south of Brisbane on Sunday night.

Crystal Cartledge lost her fight for life in the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

Her three-year-old son was also killed in the blaze, despite the valiant efforts of neighbours who were injured trying to break into the family's unit.

The boy's injured father, one-year-old sister and five-year-old brother are all now stable.

Fire investigators are continuing to comb through rubble to try and determine what sparked the deadly blaze.

Police are investigating the possibility it was deliberately lit.

Community members are being urged to help fund the funeral of the boy that has left his mother fighting for life.

The Logan House Fire Network is appealing to people to donate to a fund that will help pay for the boy's funeral.

"We are unfortunately calling on the public again to assist us with another tragic loss of life," a spokesman for the network has told media.

The group held a similar drive in May for a two-year-old boy who died in his cot when flames engulfed his Beenleigh home.
