Police find body of missing Queensland teen Jayde Kendall

Police have found the body of missing Queensland teenager Jayde Kendall at Upper Tenthill, about 17km from Gatton.

The 16-year-old was last seen on August 14, getting into a red car outside Lockyer District High School.

Jayde Kendall's body was found two weeks after she disappeared.

Her body was discovered by a local resident around 9.30am (AEST) on Thursday after police made an appeal for people to check their properties.

Police have confirmed an 18-year-old man has been arrested and is expected to be charged with her murder.

Jayde's disappearance rocked the Gatton community, which held a candlelight vigil on Wednesday night in one of the town's churches.

Her family hoped the ceremony would guide the teen back to them, her aunt Jenny Morrissey said on Thursday.

"The love and support of family and the whole community has been overwhelming," she wrote on Facebook.

"It fills our heart and keeps us focused on finding our beautiful girl. Keep on sharing and help us bring Jayde back to our loving arms."
