Body found in hunt for missing Qld girl

Police searching for missing Queensland schoolgirl Jayde Kendall have found a body.

A police spokesman told AAP the body of a teenage girl had been located at Upper Tenthill, about 17km from Gatton where Jayde was last seen on August 14.

Police will hold a press conference at the crime scene later on Thursday.

Jayde was last seen getting into a red car outside Lockyer District High School almost two weeks ago.

Police questioned the 18-year-old male driver at length after her disappearance.

The police spokesman couldn't confirm reports the driver had been arrested and was going to be charged with murder.

Jayde's disappearance rocked the Gatton community, which held a candlelight vigil on Wednesday night in one of the town's churches.

Her family hoped the ceremony would guide the teen back to them, her aunt Jenny Morrissey said on Thursday.

"The love and support of family and the whole community has been overwhelming," she wrote on Facebook.

"It fills our heart and keeps us focused on finding our beautiful girl. Keep on sharing and help us bring Jayde back to our loving arms."
