Father to stand trial over daughter's death

Three-year-old Kyesha-Lee Joughin died in 2013.

A Queensland father will stand trial accused of the horrific manslaughter of his three-year-old daughter.

Kyesha-Lee Joughin was allegedly abused and neglected over two weeks in 2013.

A pathologist found she suffered a number of injuries including gross bruising and swelling to her face and scratches on her arm and stomach.

They also found evidence of sexual abuse.

The toddler ultimately died from an abdominal injury that was most likely caused by a “blow from a fist, foot or an adult falling on her”.

Her father, Mathew Williamson, has been charged with manslaughter.

The 30-year-old appeared in Brisbane Magistrate Court on Wednesday and was granted bail.

Christopher Kent, who was living in the Petrie home at the time, also faced court.

He plans to plead guilty to criminal negligence.

The 46-year-old was also granted bail.
