The body of a pilot killed in a light plane crash in Queensland has been found, a day after a farmer discovered the wreckage.

Rob Pavan, 60, had left Gympie on Saturday morning on the way to a friend's 60th birthday party at Biloela but he only made it 39km north before crashing into a mountain plateau at great speed.

The scattered debris of Mr Pavan's Jabiru plane was discovered by the farmer in rugged terrain on Monday.
