Pregnant woman dead after alleged assault
A pregnant woman has died after being bludgeoned in an alleged domestic incident on the Gold Coast.
The 35-year-old woman, who is understood to be about 10 weeks pregnant, was found in her home in Randwick Court, Varsity Lakes on Monday afternoon.
Paramedics performed CPR on the woman, who had serious head injuries, before taking her to Gold Coast University Hospital.
Police confirmed she died on Monday night.
Authorities were called to a house at Randwick Court just after 2pm (AEST) on Monday after reports of a domestic dispute.
Detective Inspector Marc Hogan said neighbours had overheard a man and a woman arguing.
"At the present time, police are just trying to put together what's occurred," he said.
"She is in a bad way though."
The woman was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

A man believed to be in his 30s was located in a vehicle around the corner.
He was arrested by police and is reportedly assisting officers with their inquiries.
Neighbour Chris Cunha said the close knit community was in shock.
“I feel devastated because I don't know what happened,” she said.
“I’m really worried now."
