Steroids and cocaine seized in raids

Cocaine, steroids and human growth hormone are among the drugs seized in raids across South East Queensland.

Detectives from the Sunshine Coast Gangs Squad and Taskforce Maxima made the discovery after executing 12 search warrants on a number of supplements stores and the homes of a number of personal trainers.

Police say the operation targeted the involvement of criminal motorcycle gangs, mainly the Lone Wolf Criminal motorcycle gang, in the illegal distribution of performance and image enhancing drugs.

Supplement stores in Arana Hills, Kawana, Mooloolaba, Morayfield and Browns Plains were raided, as well as homes in Eight Mile Plains, Bundamba, Mudjimba, Elimbah and Marsden.

In total 3008 steroid capsules and tablets, 114 bottles of steroids and human growth hormone, one tube of steroid gel and six grams of cocaine were seized.

Four men have been charged with a number of drug offences.

Detective Inspector Brendan Smith said, “We will allege offenders were attempting to use legitimate businesses to disguise their illegal activities, but, as seen by our actions in this operation, we have the ability to adapt and successfully meet these challenges head-on.”

Detective Inspector Smith says further arrests are expected.

More to come.
