Large blaze rips through smash repairs store at Bulimba

A smash repairs business on Taylor Street in Bulimba has been badly damaged after a fire tore through the building.

Fire crews were called to the blaze just after 8am (AEST), which is thought to have been started by a welder.

Witnesses moved flammable items from around the store and used hoses to help stop the fire from spreading to neighbouring businesses.

Onlookers described it as a frantic scene as workers tried to move parked cars before the flames reached them.
