Dumped Qld MP to attend LNP meeting
Disendorsed Queensland MP Bruce Flegg plans to attend a meeting of the Liberal National Party's parliamentary wing.
LNP MPs are meeting to debate the Newman government's asset privatisation plan on Tuesday afternoon.
The Moggill MP, who was disendorsed by the LNP's powerful executive committee last week, says he'll be there.
"I will, I have no beef with the parliamentary team," Dr Flegg told AAP on Tuesday. "I do have a beef with the (LNP executive) organisation of course."
Dr Flegg says the LNP has accepted that Premier Campbell Newman won't retain his seat of Ashgrove, and is actively planning for that result.
He claims he was dumped because a faction within the LNP wants Moggill as part of its leadership succession plan.
Dr Flegg has so far refused to say if he'll try to retain Moggill by standing as an independent.
"I'll continue doing my job in Moggill till March," he said.
On Tuesday, two of Mr Newman's ministers took a swipe at the decision to dump Dr Flegg.
"Obviously preselections are a matter for the party, but I do think we should be backing our sitting MPs," Local Government Minister David Crisafulli told reporters as he entered a cabinet meeting in Brisbane.
Indigenous Affairs Minister Glen Elmes said the decision was a shock.
"It's no secret I've been a friend of Bruce's for many, many years, and I'll continue to be a friend of Bruce's for many, many years," he told ABC Radio.
"I'm hoping that he might come along for the party room meeting today and I'll certainly be there to welcome him into the room."
Opposition Leader Annastacia Palaszczuk says the government and the LNP are in a shambles.
"This government is now toxic, Campbell Newman is now toxic, the leadership is in crisis, the government is in crisis," she told reporters.
"It is marked by instability, the LNP is characterised now by their own self-interest and not the public's interest.
"If you can't govern yourselves, you cannot govern Queensland."
