Qld man charged with abduction of girl

The man accused of abducting a three-year-old Queensland girl has had his case adjourned in Bundaberg Magistrates Court.

The little girl's parents, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, insist the man is not known to them and say drugs were not involved.

The mother and father were visibly upset, shedding tears throughout the process.

The 45-year-old accused was charged with one count of break and enter and one count of deprivation of liberty.

The prosecution asked for his bail application to be refused and claimed there were finger prints on the window where entry was gained and they matched the accused's.

The man was picked up at Maryborough on Tuesday in relation to a break and enter at a tennis club.

The man allegedly told police he had to 'get out of Childers because of the heat.'

After police seized his car, which had all the accused's property in it, he allegedly told police he was moving to New South Wales.

Detective Inspector Bruce McNab said he was pleased with the result after police put in rigorous hours trying to find the accused kidnapper.

"It’s a great result. It was fantastic news when (she) was found and we still had the job to do of who took her," he said.

"After all the effort and work it’s a fantastic result."

The arrest comes a week after the child was taken from her home in Childers, sparking a frantic two-day search near Bundaberg.

She was found by police on early on Saturday morning in showgrounds across the road from her home.

The girl's family said that they "were jumping for joy".
