Teen girls allegedly racially abused, assaulted elderly indigenous man

Two teenage girls have allegedly been caught on camera racially abusing and assaulting an elderly indigenous man on a Queensland bus.

Video has emerged of the alleged attack, which took place on a bus in the Gold Coast suburb of Kirra.

Two girls, believed to be sisters, are seen punching, kicking, spitting on and spraying the man with racial abuse.

He is later heard telling a woman who comes to his aid that he is blind.

Head of Operations at Surfside Buslines, Les Manson, has refused to provide any details of the incident.

“All Surfside drivers are trained in de-escalation techniques and the quick actions from this driver has mitigated an incident quickly and successfully,” said Manson, who added that all incidents of abuse were taking seriously by Surfside.

“The driver has been commended for his actions that helped ensure safety of those on board.”
