Unclaimed $98million lottery ticket goes to charity
One unlucky punter has a lottery ticket that was yesterday worth nearly $100million – but is now worthless after time ran out to collect his cash.
The sum, exactly $98,168,426.77 is the biggest unclaimed win in United Kingdom lottery history and will now be dispersed amongst charities.
It had been revealed the ticket was bought in the town of Stevenage in Hertfordshire, which had led to families frantically scouring through their garbage in case they had mislaid the winning ticket.
There were even reports that some people had employed helpers to search the twon’s bins in a desperate attempt to find the ticket.
However, last night’s deadline passed with the money unclaimed, and lottery rules state the cash must go to good causes.
